The P2Fire Tool is a revolutionary Pulaski axe head crafted from a heat-treated custom steel alloy. This innovative design ensures the cutting head maintains its sharpness while remaining durable and resistant to breakage. Our goal is to offer three unique styles of this exceptional tool to fit your firefighting needs.
The P2 Fire Tool is a redesigned Pulaski axe head that is heat treated custom steel alloy, allowing the cutting head to "hold an edge" while providing enough ductility to avoid breakage. Comes with a 36" or 44" pinned hickory handle.
The P2S is the new Super P2 with a 6 inch wide scraping blade that is 4145 Chromoly Steel and hardened to 50-55 HRC with a 1/4" pinned hickory handle. Handles are available in 36" and 44" lengths.
The P2 Pounder is a new design having an aluminium alloy removable head. The P2 body is 4145 Chromoly Steel and hardened to 50-55 HRC with a 1/4" pinned hickory handle. Handles are available in 36" and 44" lengths.
The P2 Pounder Replacement Head is made from aluminium alloy, which is stronger and more resistant to corrosion.
Keep your P2 Fire Tools sharp and ready. Kit includes: The Makita 9031 belt sander, spare belts and custom vice.
his vice is custom designed to hold the fire tool in place for sharpening.
I spent 35 years moving earth with heavy machines. I thought I understood hard work.
Then in 2010, I volunteered on a trail crew in the Idaho National Forest — Grouse Mountain, Bonners Ferry — and watched 18 men and women tear 2,400 feet of new trail out of raw wilderness with nothing but a century-old hand tool called a Pulaski.
It humbled me.
It also showed me the tool’s limits. Seven days on that mountain and one question wouldn’t leave me alone: what if we built a better one?
Forged from heat-treated chromoly steel, built to hold an edge through the worst conditions nature throws at you, and made entirely in the USA — because the people swinging this tool in the heat and smoke deserve the best steel American hands can produce.
The P2 isn’t a reinvention. It’s an upgrade a hundred years overdue.
When you’re cutting fire line in the heat and smoke, the last thing you need is an edge that won’t hold or a head that gives out. We built the P2 for exactly that moment.
4145 Chromoly, hardened to 50–55 HRC. Sharper, longer, under the hardest conditions.
Every P2 is forged and built in the USA. No exceptions.
The P2 wasn't designed in an office. It was conceived in the field, by someone who watched what these tools go through firsthand.
From the Original Ripper to the Super P2S with its 6-inch wide scraping blade, we have the right tool for your crew and your terrain.
